Prayer Request - Provision For Weekend Carer Costs
SAVE SHEILA'S LIFE CAUSE
Note: During my blogs, you will see that I'll be talking about 3 different government medical facilities; their names will be changed to prevent me from being sued, and prevent interference with a possible future court case.
I will be calling them: Local Hospital 1, Clinic 1 and Clinic 2.
Dear Followers
I am so grateful that my beautiful sister and brother-in-law came to stay with me for the last ten days, as I was simply unable to cope with my bedridden Moms care needs; I found myself changing diapers and cleaning her for up to 3 hours in the middle of the night -
simply because I am not strong enough to turn her body efficiently, so it drags on for hours.
At the point of calling my sister for help - my Mom had not any solid for about four weeks, and her medicines had to be crushed and mixed into liquidated food like yoghurt. For the last 4 weeks Mom was mostly vomiting up her meds, and growing weaker and weaker.
She lay in one position like a heavy stone, and because of her bed-sores it was important that I turned her every two hours. I found it almost impossible to do and it simply exhausted me.
I became exhausted to the point where I was dizzy, having chest pains and losing my balance, and nodding off while standing up. My eyes were burning, ears ringing, heart racing and body aching.
I called out in desperation and My sister, Liz and her husband, Gerald (whom I consider my real brother) dropped everything and within a few hours were on their way to us from their home town,
Durban.
They left their dogs and home in the hands of friends, and closed down the business operations to a minimum at hardly any notice!
My sister is really talented in the area of caring for the sickly, and within ten days the crisis was over; my mother was eating solids again, becoming more alert and engaging in life once more - albeit in a bedridden capacity.
Although I am still exhausted, I am able to sleep in bits and pieces during the night in between caring for Mom and able to do a bit of work during the day, hoping against hope I can being earning income to ease our financial burden.
If you are reading this for the first time, you may not be aware but due to the heavy time and energy commitment it takes to care for Mom physically,
I have been unable to earn any income for the last two months - and I have used up all my savings on Moms health.
Meanwhile, Su, my very good friend, is here during the week from 8am to 5pm. Praise God for my Nephew who sponsored Sus salary this month. (I'm not sure what will happen next month - nothing solid has been discussed so I may end up with nobody to help.)
I'd say that from this week Sue has become a valuable asset in that Su is now almost fully trained in Moms basic health care needs, but it still takes two of us to move Moms body around. Su also cannot give insulin injections, take sugar readings and various other more serious tasks.
So... back to my beautiful sister. She was here until yesterday, and she implemented some pretty effective processes - plus helped to train Su.
Liz was also helping me on the weekend,
which was a HUGE relief. But as I said, Liz went home yesterday and she is already missed.
Here's an example - I only had 4 hours sleep again, as I had no relief during the late night caring work.
Now that Su is able to do 80% of the basic health care, this will give me the time do what I need to do -
fundraising, normal tasks and hopefully start earning money. But its hard to do that if you only had 4 hours sleep.
And the next challenge is that I am alone on the weekends caring for Mom physically. This means I can't do anything except care for her and try to sleep in between.
I am hoping and praying this will change soon - that somehow there will be provision for Moms carers so that I can sleep properly and start bringing income again.
So my prayer request is that God will provide provision for a weekend carer for the next 6 months; I worked out it will cost around R2500 per month to have a day carer here for the weekends.
I believe that God will supply my needs, because of this promise:
Philippians 4:19 NLT
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Please stand in agreement with me for God's provision over this situation.
Thanks!
Christine Livingstone
