SAVE SHEILA'S LIFE CAUSE

Note: During my blogs, you will see that I'll be talking about 3 different government medical facilities; their names will be changed to prevent me from being sued, and prevent interference with a possible future court case.

I will be calling them:  Local Hospital 1, Clinic 1 and Clinic 2.

I am stunned, shocked and dismayed at how difficult it is to get a bed-ridden person with wounds on her body to her hospital visit.

My mother is a SASSA  pensioner and entitled to free medical assistance and she is a known wound care patient of Local Hospital Wound Care Clinic.

They gave her a revolving appointment on a Tuesday or a Thursday to visit for a full assessment, to

see if she is eligible for surgical debridement or not.  The decision on whether or not to admit her is based on if they think she can survive surgery at her age, and in her condition or not.  If not, then they will send her home again.

She cannot sit, stand or walk and due to the wounds on her body cannot be handled by those without medical knowledge; ideally she should be transported in an ambulance.

The private ambulances will cost R1250 one way to get her to her appointment and if she is not admitted, R1250 to bring her home again.  Well, we simply don't have R1250 x 2.  We have spent all our savings on Mom already.

The government ambulance said they need a doctors letter from Clinic 2 to take her to Local Hospital; without that letter they keep taking her to Clinic 2, who treats her and returns her home again.

I spend the whole day Thursday catching mini-taxi's between the Local Hospital and Clinic 2 trying to get the letter the government ambulance wanted, but both institutions refused to give me a letter.

I was told by one of the Doctors at Clinic 2 that if the government ambulance won't take her, then I can call a private ambulance and they will bill the Government for transporting her to the Local Hospital - which means we did not have to pay for it.

However, if the Local Hospital does not admit Mom, we will still need R1250 to transport her home again.

Based on that information I sent out an appeal and a donor sent R1200 which we immediately set aside as a contingency to transport Mom home again if she was not admitted on Tuesday.

Praise God for this persons obedience, I give God all the Glory.

The Holy Spirt urged me to call both ambulances today and double check the information I
received.

    • The government ambulance control room said they will not transport her to the Local Hospital unless it is an emergency (i.e. heart attack, stroke, - basically dying.)

    • The private ambulance control room said they have never heard of such a thing - billing the government - I must call the management on Monday.

So as it stands we are back to square one again - Mom urgently needing to go in to be assessed, but we can't get her there.

Here is my prayer request:

PLEASE stand in agreement with me that God will supply the transport or the funds for us to get her to her appointment.  God is our provider in all things, and we just have to trust Him every step of the way.

2 Corinthians 9:8

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.”

God’s provision extends beyond our personal needs. He blesses us abundantly so that we can also be a blessing to others.

We want to bless my Mom by helping her get the medical attention she needs. She is a widow and we are her only recourse.

Thank you.
